World Wide Birds
necklace, 2017
materials: driftwood, rope, calico
The embroidery seen on this necklace is entirely created by Sabina. The symbols she used are those of Twitter: the bird, the 't' and the '#'. On one the top part of the piece of wood, the embroidery continues on the fabric in a less organised way, with birds flying everywhere, the same way in which 'tweets' are shared everywhere on the internet. On the bottom part, the embroidery continue with the birds getting smaller and smaller until they become something else: 'www' - the World Wide Web.
